I took mum's dinner plate and added color to it, the white shade in the flower is due to the presence of opacity medium. No prize for guessing that I am not allowed any more near mum's dinner ware :D

Mix and Match

This is my most favorite glass painting until now, and it took me around a whole week to work on it. The picture did not came out good other wise the painting itself looks so shining and awesome. It's done on plain glass and I have used both crystalline and glitter filling to make it. The outlines are done by silver, gold and black leads depending the requirement. I like the way the fountain and the water flow came out in this painting.

Etching Method

In etching method the layer of polish is removed from the mirror excluding the places where the design is present. The resultant is a plain glass, some part of which shines as a mirror. In the painting above I covered the surface with black and white poster colors and with blue in the lower one.

For this particular project I took off the mirror polish from the centre of the mirror and then worked inside that part. The jewellery and the designs are done by golden lead. I have also added some aluminium foil behind the dress to give it a shimmery effect. The hard part was to make the skin color for the bride coz of the limitations of shades. Even now the color of the skin is not looking natural :(.

Glass Carving

In this method the design is actually carved/engraved on the surface of mirror, It can also be done on glass but the effect of that is not so great as the one of the mirror. This is quite a dangerous technique because you have to engrave the design with the help pf acid for continuous 3-4 days. The acid is quite dangerous itself and then the fumes which comes out of it while it's being worked are also dangerous. But as with all the difficult tasks the results are so smooth and awesome that it seems like it has been done by a machine.

Glass Etching

This did not came out as I wanted it to be may be because I had chosen complex calligraphy. I should have chosen simple designs for this technique but still they are not too bad either. The difference b/w mirror and plain glass is that the mirror has a thin layer of polish behind it which shines in the front. Collage Work

This is most fun of them all or may be I like it more then others. In this technique smaller pieces of broken glass is glued according on the mirror as per the design on mirror and then these glass pieces are painted on accordingly. It can also be done vise verse i.e put shaped mirror pieces on plain glass but in that the glass has to be colored not the mirror.

I tried to be more creative over here or may be I was unable to break the glass in the required size and shape so I had used not only broken glass pieces but also different kind of gems, beads etc.

Be careful with the edges of the broken glass, they can be dangerous.

Frosted Glass

Done on plain glass, but first the glass is covered with a chemical which gives it a milkish, frosty texture. Then after wards a dreamy effect shows up when the colors are put on to it. I have used poster colors for this purpose in place of glass paints because white color in them is not bright as the poster colors. The hull of the ship made up of copper and black leads.

Foiling Method

This is done on the reverse side of plain glass, as it can't be done on a mirror. The design is traced reversely as a mirror image on the glass and then the outlines are drawn by black lead. The parts out side the boundaries are then painted by black enamel paint, around 3-4 coats will do the trick. I love black color so I have used black in all of them but any other darker color can be used. After the paint dries up put crushed aluminum foil on the back of the glass and voila!!!

This one is my personal favorite.

Glitter all the way

Ok now this is a totally different technique but it's quite fun to work with. For this I take the transparent plain color which resembles more like a nail enamel hardner, add powdered glitter in it to make different colors of glitter paint. I know it sounds blingish but I loved experimenting with this technique and you can actually make out decent memoriables out of it. So for this first one I made the lead boundries and then filled with different colored glittered paint. Keep in mind that being done on glass the reverse side is the one which should be always on front i.e. the reverse of the side on which you put the glitter. After the color is dried up I coated the back side with black enamel paint so that the design can stand out.

Same technique as the above one, the only difference is that it's done on a mirror surface. So you can actually feel the glitter if you put your hand on the mirror. The outlines this time is done by gold and copper lead. The shading effect is tried to be created by using different colors in each flower and leaf.

The glitter technique done on back of the glass, this time the back of the glass is covered by crushed almunium foil instead of enamel paint to give it an over all shiny look.

Continuing the glitter on glass technique, with both almunium foil an black paint on back so the black background has a shimmer effect. If such kind of effect is needed then only 1-2 coats of black enamel is done on the back of the glass.

Simple Filling and Shading

This is the simplest techniques of all, you just have to put contrasting colors and fill the areas. It can be done by using both the transparent and crystalline paints.

~Tulips~

This painting above shows the use of both transpaernt and crystalline paints and the difference is obvious. Crystalline color when dries up shows spikes of crystals in it which actually seems cool and it can be used to give the effect of ice/glass/frozen water etc. The vase in the painting and the border on the side is done with crystalline paints. The tulips and the leaves on other hand are filled by transparent color, it seems like a thin surface of glass itself. The outlines are drawn by black lead lines and the edges are painted by black enamel paint i.e. 4 coats of it because black color comes very light on glass.

~Roses~

This is simple shading using crystalline colors, outline is done by black lead. Instead of plain glass a mirror is used.

~Lilies~

This is also done on mirror but the shading is done using transparent colors and the lead's color is copper.

~Dahlia~

Same technique of transparent color filing and shading on mirror, but the effect did no came as desired. Should have used some other color for lead in place of black. What do you guys think??
